COVID-19 UPDATE; March 23, 2020
Effective March 27th, we will be closing temporarily for the safety of our employees and customers due to the concerns, uncertainties, and restrictions due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The short-term plan is to close for 14 days of isolation, however; depending on the spread of the virus and government mandate, this period may be extended. Anyone registered for training over the next two weeks will be contacted.
We will still be answering our phones and responding to all emails.
Currently our driver training department will continue to operate, with the understanding that it could change at any time. We have strict procedures in place to ensure our staff and students remain safe during training. These procedures include:
– no touch infrared temperature screening (anyone above 38 degrees will be asked to reschedule their training session)
– any students that are feeling ill or showing symptoms, are asked to reschedule their training session(s)
– any students who have travelled via airplane are asked to reschedule their courses two weeks after their last flight
– any staff member that is feeling ill will be asked to stay home
– any staff who have travelled via airplane are asked to self-isolate for 14 days
– all equipment and trucks are sanitized prior to use, and upon completion of individual usage prior to the next student usage
– common areas disinfected at a minimum of five times per day
We value the health and safety of our staff and students and trust that anyone affected by these policies will cooperate as needed and we will follow recommended policies from AHS and CDC as well as any updates from the Government of Alberta.
From Energy Safety Canada regarding H2S Alive certification:
Any Certificate of Completion previously issued by Energy Safety Canada that has an expiry date between January 1, 2020 and September 1, 2020 will be deemed by Energy Safety Canada to have not expired and will remain valid up to and including September 1, 2020.
From the Red Cross regarding First Aid certification:
All Red Cross first aid certifications (which would have expired March through June 30, 2020) will be considered valid 90-days beyond their expiry date. These certifications will also be accepted for recertification courses when in-person training resumes.
Participants looking to complete a first aid recertification or take a blended course in the future can be encouraged to take the time now to complete the online component. The online component will issue a confirmation of completion certificate which is good for 90 days. The completion of this online training will also appear in users’ profiles as a type of course which can be verified by their employer. Participants will be required to complete the in-person training within 90 days of completing the online component, after which they will be issued a 3-year certification. With many individuals postponing in-person training, this will provide a solution to continue supporting education in the short term. These participants will also be confirmed as your customers when in-person training resumes.
Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions, we will keep you informed of any changes.
Thank you very much for your continued support and business.
